The annual general assembly of the Union of International Mountain Leaders Associations 2013

Project Description

30 delegates from 16 countries: Bulgaria, Macedonia, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Andorra, Croatia, Germany, Romania, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, took part in the Annual General Assembly of the Union of International Mountain Leaders Associations (UIMLA). Participants discussed the application of unified professional standards and legislative changes to regulate the profession of mountain leader. The meeting marked the establishment of a database of legislation affecting mountain leaders around the world, which will assist in the efforts to harmonise standards, guaranteeing not just the quality of services provided to hikers but more importantly their safety, including Bulgaria. The Assembly also saw the first screening of ‘Connected’, the new Bulgarian documentary film dedicated to the stories of mountain leaders and the challenges they face. Travel Time Bulgaria supplied sound equipment, simultaneous interpreting into three languages and multimedia presentation of the lecturers and film.
